You plan out your novel how you want it to go. The main point stays the same but you find yourself adding different details as you write, you either delete scenes you thought you wanted or you move them further into your book.
Do you ever have that problem? So should you outline your novel even if you know how it will end?
Yes.
Even if you don’t outline scene to scene at least you will have some direction you want to go. It helps on the days you don’t feel like writing, or are trying to work through writer’s block.
You can change events or your whole outline will change, having the same outcome will help you as you go along. Don’t be afraid to change scenes or events as you’re writing your first draft. If you do make changes, make yourself a note so you won’t add the same information again later on in your story or book.
Here’s a problem.
You’ve added new scenes that wasn’t a part of your outline. You have notes scattered everywhere on small pieces of paper but they are not all in the same place.
But you love to be organized having all your notes nice and neat in the right order so you can find them when you need them. Don’t be afraid to stop writing to take the time to write out a new outline.
Or you could have several pieces of paper just for all your notes if you don’t want to do another outline. Carry those papers with you have them available when you need to write down a new scene or a note to yourself about the story or book.
